I’ve also hung a 24 x 30 frame on my wall to encase pictures and words in sequence of my
dreams, goals and desires. These visuals create powerful momentum in my life to draw me
closer to my dreams. The more vivid the imagination and the pictures you use, the more power
and inspiration you will unleash.
Storyboarding offers an alternative to replace your negative thinking with powerful positive
thinking. Your subconscious mind actually defaults the negative pictures of your life!
1. Storyboard your day. In your mind’s eye, imagine with pictures what your ideal day looks
like. List the tasks you must complete under the heading, “Plans.” Once you get a vision in your
mind’s eye, translate your imagination into a visual storyboard. Write words and draw pictures
of the desired actions taking place. Meditate on it to align your thinking with your desired
outcome.
2. Storyboard dreams. This helps to stir up your creativity, generate fresh ideas and mostly
keep you focused. I used this method to help me to achieve the dream of walking across the
platform to receive my doctorate. A picture of me in cap and gown was my focus. I surrounded
the picture with words that spoke to a positive outcome and put them on my board. Throughout
my day the picture would come to mind and I would meditate on walking across the platform.
By practicing the act in my mind, the day of my graduation I actually walked across the
platform, and didn’t bother to stop and shake the president’s hand because it wasn’t played put
in my imagination! Oops!
3. Storyboard a visual map. When I want to brainstorm a project that I’m working on, I
map out a plan on my board by hanging 5 x 7 sheets of paper labeling them in the best possible
sequence for the project to unfold. At the end there’s a visual picture of my brainstorming
process. By focusing on the project this way, my mind generates ideas and concepts that
eventually give me the plan and outcome I am seeking.
Included with these three storyboarding methods is vocalization. Begin to speak what you have
pictured. Add to this the corresponding scriptures you have memorized. Now step out and take
action on what you have imagined.
Your life should be a grand adventure as you go from envisioning the dream to dream
achievement. As believers we must always seek spiritual things, and there is a lot of room for
practicality as well. This should be what you consider a normal way to design the life you desire.

This bothers me. I believe there should be practical actions attached to prayer. In other words,
don’t just hear it and pray it, but live it. God has so graciously given his children the blueprint,
principles, abilities and tools to live a life by design. From where I see things, they are under-
utilized, or wrongly exercised, which brings me to what I want to share in this week’s column.
In the past two columns I put great emphasis on transforming your personal interior and balancing
the furnishings and accessories in the house of your soul and spirit. Previewing a visual plan of
your dreams, goals and desires laid in sequence and adding the biggest piece of furniture first—
your faith, is what you need to become an active participant in your life, intentionally structuring
and shaping your own future. God would agree with this because James 2:14 (AMP) boldly
declares, “What is the use, my brethren, for anyone to profess to have faith if he has no good
works to show for it? Can such faith save his soul?” And then verse 17 tells us that faith without
works is dead. Of course prayer is considered works. But I want to show how you can balance what
you pray in proportion with other practices to bring your dreams to reality.
Dream Achievement Through Meditation. I shared in my last column some of my works in
fulfilling my dream of broadening my education. If you missed my last two columns I highly
recommend that you read the archives. Throughout the Bible God used the principle of godly
meditation to get his people to envision his best for their lives. Remember what God said about the
people who built the Tower of Babel? “Nothing they have imagined they can do will be impossible
for them.” (See Genesis 11:6 AMP). This is a powerful ability and tool given to us by God, as long as
we use it in accordance with His will for our lives.

After I pray about something, I mediate on it.
Meditation is actually comprised of three key
components: visualization, vocalization and
memorization. When I included these accessories
to my personal interior design, my goals became
crystal clear, my focus was heightened and my
daily motivation and results increased.
Storyboarding is one tool I constantly use also.
Storyboarding. This concept, along with my
imagination and faith, has been one of the keys to
seeing results of my prayers. I storyboard my life
by creating a visual plan on a foam poster board.

I love to pray and when I hear someone
teaching on the subject of prayer it
immediately grabs my attention. I see prayer
as the avenue to communicate with God so I
have several books on prayer in my library.
Although I’d rather intercede privately than
join in with prayer groups, for one year I led
prayer once a week on a dedicated prayer
line. My girlfriend Beverly used to be my
prayer partner who I’ve dubbed the prayer
warrior. Before our geographic separation,
she would frequently nudge me over to her
place to pray with her. The scripture tells us
the prayer of a righteous person is powerful
and effective. Prayer is the foundation of our
faith.
As believers, prayer undoubtedly should be
our lifestyle and in thinking about this I’ve
known people with a lifestyle of fervent
prayer who seem to never get the
manifestations they were seeking.
